October 21, 2011

The Buddhist Youth Group, Kathmandu has expressed concerns over the government announcing the year 2012 as a ‘Lumbini Visit Year’ without making any consultations with the stakeholders. Issuing a press release, the Group also expressed regret over the announcement of the Visit Year and the formation of a High-level Broader Lumbini Development National Board of Directors without representing any individuals and institutions dedicated for the publicity and promotion of Buddha religion since long. ‘The task of development works in Lumbini – the holy birthplace of the Lord Buddha and the centre of faith for Buddhists across the globe – should be expedited in line with the master plan developed by Japanese expert Kenjo Tange’, reads the release. The release states that the false publicity being made regarding the Buddha’s birthplace, Lumbini, from the neighboring country should strongly be refuted during the Prime Minister’s visit to India. .Source THT
