Maoist student body to take action against college professors who fail in their teaching duties
Chairperson of ruling UCPN (Maoist) affiliated student wing All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), Himal Sharma, has threatened to take action against permanent teachers and professors of Tribhuvan University (TU) who give more priority to the private colleges while fulfilling their teaching duties. Sharma, who was speaking at a programme in Jhapa district Sunday, said that from January 15 ANNISU-R activists and students close to it will smear black soot on the face of teachers and professors of government colleges who are found involved in such activities. He further said that students studying in the private schools and colleges should not be entitled to any kind of government scholarships. “Students from only public or community-run schools should be provided government scholarships,” he said, adding that ANNISU-R would stop registration of new private schools in the country. Sharma, who often comes into media limelight with his outrageous remarks, said all the existing private schools would be run through cooperatives within the next few years and those refusing to comply will be shutdown.NN
